Member Bulletin: March 2024

Dear Members,

Just a few updates and reminders here from us at TNA - trying to keep it short and sharp as usual!

New TNA Leadership
Joshua Lowe and Erica McCalman started as TNA's new Co-CEOs in January this year. Josh is already a familiar name in your inbox, but feel free to reach out to Erica anytime at erica@tna.org.au.

TNA Member Survey
As new Co-CEOs, we would love to hear what you have to say in our upcoming Member Survey, which will land in your inbox next week. The survey will ask a broad range of questions about the current needs of your organisation, key trends, and how you think TNA is doing. The goal is to use the responses to better direct our programs and advocacy efforts so that they better support you. We have worked hard to only ask the essential questions and make it as short as possible. If you have any requests or suggestions for what you think should be in the survey, please feel free to send them through.

Sharing through TNA comms
TNA is always happy to share opportunities, sector events, job ads, etc. from our members through our E-News (usually the first week of every month), bulletins, and social media. Feel free to send through requests and info to Wen-Juenn at content@tna.org.au. Please note that we do not promote shows.

Reminder about TNA's Resources
TNA has a number of resources online that you might have missed:

  • Resources Page: Links to a range of resources on advocacy, access and equity, anti-racism, sustainability, fees/rates/working conditions, governance, and insurance.

  • Indie Practice Reports: Benchmarking and information for independently practicing artists.

  • Salary Survey Reports: Benchmarking for pay and benefits for employees of arts organisations.

  • CaPT Resources: A whole bunch of resources specifically for those working in the Circus and Physical Theatre sector.

  • Policy Database: Policies, plans, procedures, and codes of conduct that Australian arts organisations have shared publicly.

  • Indie Producers Database: A database of indie producers, including where they are, what areas they work in, and how to contact them.

  • Designers Database: For female, non-binary, and trans designers.

  • Advocacy Toolkit: Helping to learn about and get better at advocating for yourself and your work to government.

TNA Advocacy
TNA is often doing a lot of invisible advocacy work behind the scenes, working towards a safe, healthy and relevant performing arts sector. Recently these have included Federal Pre-Budget 2024-25 submission, working with Carl Scibberas and Frankie Snowdon on an initiative to support dance indies (stay tuned), participating in the Modern Awards Review and ANZSCO Review, pushing for a Federal youth advisory group for the creative industries, making a submission to the WA Youth Action Plan, and much more.

Member Portal
Don't forget to keep your organisation's details updated in our TNA Member Portal. You can use this to update your billing contact and details any time you like. Your company contacts are now managed separately through Airtable.

From Erica, Josh, and the TNA Team.
