Advocacy

  • Sector Research & Analysis

TNA regularly consults and surveys our members and the broader sector. Together with our more formal research projects, this helps us identify they key issues we need to address in our advocacy and provides us with the evidence to do so effectively.

  • Making Submissions

TNA often makes submissions to Federal and State Governments on behalf of the sector. These include regular opportunities such as annual pre-budget submissions, as well as periodic reviews, inquiries, and requests for input and feedback.

  • Maintaining Relationships

A huge part of TNA’s advocacy is forging and maintaining relationships with key political stakeholders. Our staff regularly meet with government ministers and MPs, advisors, department staff, and funding body representatives. We use these meetings to gather information and make sure that the performing arts stays on the agenda.

  • Lobbying Government

TNA makes regular representations to Federal and State Governments. This includes strategic advocacy campaigns that may involved our members, as well as small responsive opportunities that sometimes arise.

  • Partnerships & Collaborations

TNA believes that the sector’s advocacy efforts are most effective when we unite. TNA is a part of a National Peaks Consortium and convenes the Arts Industry Council Victoria, which helps brings arts peak bodies together. We are always looking for more ways to create shared messaging, build and strengthen coalitions, and leverage each others’ resources.

  • Informing the Sector

Through our E-News, social media, and member bulletins, TNA staff work hard to share concise and relevant information with the sector. This includes updates on our own advocacy, synthesised news and information from governments and funders, and calls to action.
